No. You can upload a file or paste a supported video link to transcribe, view, and copy text without signing in. Signing in increases the maximum duration per audio or video from 20 to 60 minutes, lets you process multiple tasks at once, and gives you access to your transcription history across devices.
How do I transcribe audio or video to text?
Choose Audio or Video to upload a file, or choose Video Link to paste a supported link. Start transcription, then review the timestamped text. Click a sentence to listen back, make any corrections, and copy or download your transcript.
Which audio and video formats can I upload?
Supported formats include MP3, WAV, FLAC, and OGG for audio, and MP4, MOV, and MKV for video. Your file needs a playable audio track with speech. Some codecs may not be supported.
What are the file size and duration limits for audio and video uploads?
Each audio or video can be up to 20 minutes without signing in, or 60 minutes when signed in. Video files can be up to 2GB, and audio files up to 1GB. If your file exceeds these limits, trim it to the section you need or split it into smaller clips, then upload each clip separately.
Can I transcribe YouTube and TikTok videos from a link?
Yes. Choose Video Link and paste a public YouTube or TikTok video URL. Private, deleted, or platform-restricted videos may not be accessible. Use the dedicated YouTube and TikTok pages for platform-specific instructions.

How can I get a more accurate transcript?
Use a recording with clear speech and as little background noise as possible. Overlapping voices can reduce accuracy. Listen back using the timestamps and check names, numbers, and specialist terms before using the text.

Yes, NowText can extract text from screenshots, photos, and scanned images with its Image to Text tool. Audio and video transcription only converts spoken audio into text; it does not read text in video frames.
